The main components of ADSS optical cable are optical fiber, loose sleeve, fill wire, outer jacket, etc. Optical fiber is the core part used to transmit optical signals, using high-quality single-mode or multi-mode optical fiber, with good transmission performance and anti-interference ability. Loose sleeve is the protective layer of optical fiber, which can effectively prevent the fiber from being damaged by external forces. Filler wire is used to fill the internal gap of the cable to ensure the circularity and strength of the cable. The outer jacket plays the role of protecting the fiber and loose sleeve, so that the cable can adapt to various harsh environments

First, the core application scenario of ADSS optical cable.

1. Can be directly suspended on 110kV, 220kV, 500kV or even higher voltage level power tower, using the path resources of the power line to build a communication channel, realize the transmission of dispatching instructions between substations and power plants, data monitoring (such as grid load, equipment status), voice communication, etc.

2. Because there is no metal component, it can avoid eddy current loss caused by high voltage electric field induction, and will not cause damage to metal parts due to lightning strikes, etc., adapt to high voltage strong electric field environment.

Second, mechanical performance parameters:

1. Rated tensile strength (RTS): also known as ultimate tensile strength or breaking force, refers to the calculation value of the sum of the strength of the bearing section, and the actual breaking force should be 95% of the calculated value. This parameter is related to the strength of the tower, the selection of tensile fittings, etc., and is an important mechanical performance index.

2. Maximum allowable tension (MAT): The tension experienced by the optical cable when the total load is theoretically calculated under the design weather conditions. Under this tension, the strain of the optical fiber should be 0.05% (layer twisted) and 0.1% (center tube) without additional attenuation, usually MAT is equivalent to about 40% RTS.

3. Annual mean stress (EDS): Under wind and ice-free and annual average temperature, the tension experienced by the optical cable during the theoretical calculation of the load is generally 16% -25% RTS. Under this tension, the optical fiber should be free of strain and no additional attenuation. It is also the fatigue aging parameter of the optical cable, which is used to determine the vibration protection design of the optical cable.

4. Ultimate Operating Tension (UES): During the effective life of the optical cable, it may occur beyond the maximum tension of the optical cable at the time of design load, usually UES should be > 60% RTS. Under this tension, additional attenuation will occur in the optical fiber, but it should return to normal after the tension is lifted.

III. Optical fiber related parameters:

1. Fiber core number: common 4-144 core, can also be customized according to needs, such as 8 core, 12 core, 24 core, etc.

2. Optical fiber type: generally use G.652 or G.655 single mode optical fiber, with low attenuation, high bandwidth and other good transmission performance.

3. Optical fiber residual length: refers to the spare length of the optical fiber in the cable, generally required 0.65%, can ensure that the cable is stretched and other external forces, the optical fiber is not damaged, to maintain normal transmission.

1. Outer diameter: related to the structure and number of cores of the cable, different types of ADSS cable outer diameter is different, such as ADSS cable with a gear distance of 100m, the outer diameter is usually 12.7mm.

2. Unit length quality: varies with the cable structure and specifications, such as ADSS cable with a gear distance of 100m, the unit length quality is generally 133kg/km.

3. Outer material: usually polyethylene (PE) or electric mark resistant sheath material (AT), PE is suitable for the environment of electric field strength 12kV, AT is suitable for the environment of electric field strength 20kV
